Guests can expect exhilarating terrain, challenging descents, and the same good vibes and professional hospitality that have defined Baldface since day one. But Baldface is also about everything that happens between the turns: early mornings with coffee and mountain forecasts, learning from experienced guides, sharing stories in the cat, incredible food, friendships formed in the mountains, and the deep snowboard and ski culture that continues to shape who we are.
The Valhalla Range offers an incredible variety of terrain, from high alpine features and steep fall-line descents to playful tree runs, terrain features, and high-speed groomers. Some days deliver legendary powder, while others challenge us to ride the mountains differently, focusing on terrain, flow, creativity, skill development, mountain education, and simply appreciating the privilege of being in wild places.
Baldface Valhalla offers a same-day, in-and-out cat-shredding experience designed for advanced and expert riders looking to immerse themselves in the terrain, culture, and energy of the Valhallas. Each snowcat accommodates 12 guests and can be booked individually or with friends. Full-cat bookings are available, and when paid for in two transactions, the 12th seat is free.

It’s about sharing meaningful mountain experiences with great people in one of the most beautiful ranges on earth. The Mountain
All-time tree riding, chutes, bowls, alpine. We have it all. The diverse topography, majestic peaks, and unique vegetation typical of the Selkirk Mountains make it some of the best skiing in the world (in our opinion).
Baldface Valhalla is located in the Selkirk range in British Columbia’s West Kootenay area. The highest peak we access tops out at 8,000 feet (2,438 meters) with runs varying from 1200 – 3000 vertical feet. Not to mention our 21,500 acres of terrain (twice the size of Whistler Blackcomb combined!). You won’t be disappointed.

Listen, we get it, powder is the crown jewel of the backcountry experience. But ya know, mother nature has the final say. Could be blower pow, could be that stuff guides like to call “variable.”
The thing is, a great trip was never just about the snow. It’s about chasing lines with good people, basking in the glorious Kootenays mountain, and then swapping stories over a cold beer …
You know we’ll be out there with you hiking for corn, grooming cat roads or helping build you a booter…. If the snow isn’t legendary, the après will be.

Typical Day
Day trips begin with an early morning coffee and check-in at our welcome area. From there, guests will be driven up the mountain approximately 25 minutes to the Valhalla Staging Area where they transition into the snowcat for a full day of mountain riding. Plenty of hand-made snacks and tasty lunches will be provided to help guests stay energized all day long.

Guides
Our guides do more than lead guests through terrain. They share knowledge about snowpack, terrain management, mountain safety, and the unique environment we operate in, helping guests deepen their understanding of the backcountry experience regardless of the weather.
Safety
Wilderness skiing is not inherently safe and there are risks, dangers and hazards skiers must accept. Safety is our number one priority. Our guides strictly follow snowcat skiing industry standards for safety. All of our guides are ACMG, CAA, or CSGA certified and are wilderness first-aid caregivers.
Every guest will be given a transceiver and hands-on personal instruction on how to use it. We strongly urge our guests to listen carefully to their trained guides.
Furthermore, all skiers are required to sign a comprehensive release of liability and waiver prior to participating in wilderness skiing with us. It is recommended that all skiers purchase travel and accident insurance. Your insurance broker can advise you as to what other types of insurance you may require, such as disability insurance and life insurance.
Required Skill Level
Baldface Valhalla’s terrain requires advanced to expert level skills in tight trees and variable natural snow conditions. Many of our runs feature technical entrances, with features such as pillows, drops and chutes. If you’re not sure, give us a call. The only way to guarantee the speed/ability levels of your group is to book an entire snowcat with like-minded friends.
Guests will be riding up to 15,000 feet per day and need to be in good physical condition. Consider a conditioning program to prepare for your trip. If you are unable to keep up with the group you may be asked to sit out and will not be reimbursed for any missed time in the cat. Weather and ski conditions are impossible to predict so guests must be prepared to ride or ski anything. If you have never boarded in the backcountry or shy away from black diamonds and advanced or expert terrain at your local resort, this is not the place to learn. Baldface terrain has lots of glades and trees – please be prepared to ride and ski in the trees!
Alcohol or non-prescription drugs are not permitted while skiing or snowboarding.
All participants must be 19 years of age or older.

We will offer a same-day, in-and-out cat-shredding experience FOR ADVANCED AND EXPERT SHREDDERS, guided through the backcountry of the Valhallas. Each snowcat can accommodate 12 guests and can be booked solo or with friends. When booking a full cat, if paid for in two transactions the 12th seat is free! Riding with your friends on a pow day is already great but having a cat filled with homies who can all keep up is the best!
